I have to say, this is the nicest model I've ever painted, the detail and the proportions are incredibly well done. I'm being really careful not to stuff it up, here's an early WIP, almost got the skin sorted, pants are done, everything else needs work. Armour plates will be candy red like my Human team in the previous post.
Cheers!

Blood Bowl 2015 Human Team Completed
Holla,
Finished my boys from the core set today, it's taken me a little while, I'm not used to painting human sized models, normally post-humans, tanks, monsterous creatures and even superheavies these days so I had to go back and forth a lot trying to get them right.

Acastus Knight Porphyrion COMPLETED!!!!!
Acacstus Knight Porhpyrion, easily the biggest and most complex kit build and paint job I have ever done for a gaming miniature. I'm really happy with the result but the 60 hrs I spent on getting it finished kinda baked my noodle. I have no idea how the titan painters get through it! Anyway here are some studio shots, let me know what you think!

Acastus Knight Porphyrion Final WIP And Battle Pics.
So I didn't get it finished today, turns out the guns were actually quite a big job and I'm still not finished on them..!
I've got some weathering to add on them and a little tidy up work on the model itself, but this is pretty much it done below now.
I took it out for a game tonight against my mate Rhyan's World Eaters who were supported by a Warhound Titan at 3.5k and the Acastus went alright. It definitely didn't collapse the game as the internet feared, it will make an excellent elite infantry killer but against armour it's as good as the next thing really (especially a single target, a Vindi Laser Destroyer is almost as good. A Venator is arguably better).
It's so cool though as a model and it's fkn massive! I can't wait to get some more battles in with it in the future. For a champagne over the bow style commissioning, 22 World Eater Inducted marines were vaporised and a Warhound was scrapped by it's main guns, but only by dealing 4 hull points damage and getting the death blow. As per usual the high damage output of the Sons list I had built did enough work to the Titan to get it close to death.
Just gotta weather the guns now, tidy up a few little things and make the hanging thing under his groin and it's done. |
Baby's first car ride! Needs to buckle up. |
The Warhounds torso kinda tips up at the front, they are the same height top to top but the way the camera is the Warhound looks only a touch taller. |
Rhyan's Warhound, My Acastus and Paco's Atrapos and Castigator. |
Got the Warhound to back up by dropping a Leviathan next to it with the Cyclone Melta and Drill, then pumped shots into it with the Javelins and Acastus as they came on from Reserve in turn 2. |
He's a big unit! From ground level the base looks like overkill but when you see it from the top down, the 9" grinder cutting disc was the perfect size. |

Acastus Porphyrion Knight WIP Photos To Date - Nearly Finished!!
I'm so close to victory now I can taste it! This model is huge, it's been an absolute monster to paint. The sheer amount of armour panels is astounding and I wouldn't be surprised to see it have the same number of components as a Warlord or something! Anyway, the guns are all I have left to do now, follow the pictures below for a visual journey picking up where I last left off.
Check back tomorrow for the completed shots.

Excuse the toes sorry! Mettalic blue is put down in thin coats. |
Going for a split scheme with dark blue and bone for House Makabius. The gun barrel sags because it's miscast and I am waiting for another. |
Quartered panels on the rear. Spoiler alert: I left these off, they obscure the hull detail too much and the rear is only AV12 anyway. |
Split panels galore, edged everything with dark copper. |
Starting to pop a bit more now I have the chassis primed black! |
Masking up the front of the torso for the dark copper, and hitting the backs of all the panels. |
Yeye, STRONG! |
Dark Iron highlighted with the airbrush with Gun Metal. |
I added some blue and purple filters to the chassis, I wanted it to have a really deep steel look. |
So many coffees were consumed at home while making this! Popped downstairs for a cheeky Siphon, V60, French Press and the good old AeroPress. |
I went with a red lid, and I might do the tips of the Magma Lascannon barrels to match, thoughts? |
Something that hasn't changed, that red dust. |
Lower armour is now glued on and GtG. |
9" Grinder blade with cork tile. I kinda wanted it to look like the Acastus is squashing the ground. I didn't nail it but the effect is ok. |
With such a busy model I have kept the base kinda simple. |
Proof of life. Cutting wheel for metal. Acastus is the most metal thing in 30k. |
Razzle dazzle. Tried some rust effects, not a great photo of it but I wanted it to look like the manifolds had rusted from the heat cycling. Shitty Mechanicum fitting mild steel manifolds. |
Lower half of the torso is done save for the lens on the head. |
I'm leaving the back armour off. I like all the workings underneath to cover it up. |
So staunch on the move! |
Next to the wee baby Levi. |
Check back tomorrow for the completed shots.

Acastus Knight Porphyrion - House Makabius WIP Pics
Hola
I got this guy on release day but with the Christmas postage blockage it ended up getting stuck in a warehouse for 7 days, so I'm a little late to the party, but here he is so far!

There's a pretty large step in this and while it wasn't the only piece to have miscast, its in such a visible area I have asked for another to replace it. |
The pose-ability on the legs is incredible but the toe pistons actually have the ability to travel farther than the armour will allow them to before it fouls something, so take your time and check several times before glueing anything if you are going for a dynamic pose. |
Mid stride. I'm stoked on the base area, I'm going to keep it simple but help to tie it in with the force and my table. I've pinned the torso so he can rotate side to side. |
Aye, he's a big lad. |
I used some of the offcuts on the inside of the torso to magnetise the arms. |

Where I'm at, I ran out of primer and it was either enough to do the armour or a portion of the chassis so I did all the armour. I've started studding some of the Panels. |
So a few early snaps there to give you an idea of what I'm thinking pose wise. The legs are fantastic but don't go through their full range of movement without the armour panels fouling on other bits of the legs or other panels. Making sure everything cleared while adjusting the pose was lengthy, it took me an hour and a half just to get the legs how I wanted them but I'm really happy and I feel like it has a natural striding look.
I'm going for the blue and cream Makabius scheme but I also want it to represent a war machine that has been in service to the Warmaster for a while so I am studding some of the panels and adding some spikes and chains, it will also help to tie him in with my SoH models too.
Cheers guys, Happy New Year!
Jack
