Quick Look at the Skitarii Codex.

The Skitarii codex is out now, and love it or leave it, I think this codex will make a big impact on the game itself. While in reality its a small codex, it has several strong units that will fit into just quite a few different armies as allies. What I don't see, although I think its quite possible to do, (despite internet first reactions) is the ability to field it as a stand alone army. This codex was obviously meant to be an allied force.

Space Marines Rumors

Space Marines are still rumored to get a codex later this year, and we have heard misc talk of Ravenguard, White Scars. Steve the Warboss pegged Space Marines as an August release, and Lords of Wargaming has said they are coming. So this rumor states the release will be a rather minor one, and by the looks of it, could be handled with a 2 week release. One box kit, a new Chaplin, and codex. Take a look at the latest.

New Brushes Coming to a GW Store Near You

A few reports have come in that Games Workshop is redoing its entire brush range. This is apparently happening soon, as stores are being told to "hold" on ordering new brushes. I did see that there are only two brushes currently on the GW US webstore, but as often as I check for brushes there, it could of always been like that.

Altansar are the 5th Craftworld for Eternal Crusade

Today Eternal Crusade announced a new Eldar Craftworld that was based upon the communities voting and interest, and the winner was Altansar. I can't say that I am disappointed in Altansar, its a good choice. This takes Eldar up to 5 different craftworlds to be represented in the game.

Onager Dunecrawler and Plasma Obliterator Pre-Orders are Live!

Today and this weekend Codex: Skitarii hit the shelves, and with it are pre-orders for the Onager Dunecrawler and some new terrain fortification pieces. The Onager really is in my personal opinion the crowning piece of the Skitarii codex, and with it many people will be taking small forces of Skitarii as allies to get this walker.

The Weapons of the Onager Dunecrawler

The Onager Dunecrawler has some awesome weaponry at its disposal, including the Icarus Array, which looks fantastic in my own opinion. It literally can according to the sample codex, take down two flyers per round. Once during your opponents with interceptor, and then during your own shooting phase. While the weapon looks expensive, the Onager itself relatively cheap, and can come in squadrons of 3. Add in that it can benefit from Doctrina Imperatives and you have a winner in this walker.

More Dark Angel Hints

Check out the image above, as it shows a numeral 1 sitting on a Tactical Squad symbol. While I am not always up to speed on what markings go on Tacticals, Dark Angels are often shown with this symbol for their tacticals. This along with the re-directs, and the latest whispers of incoming Dark Angels, it looks like we might be seeing a small release or update, quite possibly attached to a campaign.

Warhammer Fantasy 9th Edition Pre-Orders in April?

There has been a lot of wondering what will be next, especially with Steve the Warboss's release schedule not really having nothing else listed for April. However, next week we will be seeing the final week of Skitarii, which takes us through most of the month. There seems to be one week in between a Warhammer Fantasy 9th edition starter set on the 24th, but that could very well be a lead into the new Fantasy Edition, or the book itself. I for one am beyond curious to see where the End Times leaves the game in the new edition.

A Correction, Asdrubael Vect, and more

Nightfury chimed in just recently to give some Holiday wishes, but also to give a look at some of what he has been seeing and hearing. The long awaited Vect is coming.... and hopefully it wont be a repeat as long as we had to wait for the Voidraven.

Unraveling the Skitarii Codex: How to Find Out its Secrets Now

Something interesting in the Codex Skitarii, is that if you downloaded the interactive sample, like normal you get access to several of the rules by clicking on them. However, this time (I dont know if its always been like this), Games Workshop has left the entire Glossary index and its rules available to you. This means that if you dig in you can find relics, tactical objectives, and just about any special rule you want that will be in the codex.

Realm of Battle Imperial Primus Redoubt

Forge yesterday released a new battle board piece, expanding upon the Realms of Battle boards. The latest release is a 2x2 board with a larger bunker and multiple battlements. Of course the large double barreled laser destructor turret dominates the board piece. here are the details.

When A Car Collides with a Game Store at 60+ mph!

You heard that right, a local game store Red Castle Games, had a car crash right through the front of their store. The car was involved in a police pursuit, with the driver intoxicated and high (now facing drug and alchol charges according to a local report). The crash was estimated to have occurred between 60-80mph when it hit the store front. Of course games, glass, and debris went flying, in some cases between 20-30'.

The Onager Dunecrawler

Yesterday we saw the a leaked image of the stat lines for this heavy support choice, and now we have the rest of the story. I think the big thing on these walkers is that they have the Doctrina Imperatives rules. This is big, as they can really get some great buffs out including increased BS with those Eradication Beamers and nuetron lasers.

There is a lot of here, and it looks like it could fill out the rest of the year very easily. There is no real surprises here, but that could depend upon what the 40k Expansions are. If these are minor updates to go along with campaigns, that would make sense.
